Matthew Alan Styer Endowed Scholarship Fund
For students walking in Matt鈥檚 footsteps in the digital arts鈥
MATTHEW ALAN STYER 鈥05, a graduate of 91短视频鈥檚 Visual and Communication Arts (VACA) program, left a remarkable legacy in his three years of working for 91短视频鈥檚 marketing and communications department,
2005-08.
Matt died of leukemia at age 30 on Dec. 19, 2011.
To honor his memory, members of Matt鈥檚 family 鈥 Lindsay Martin 鈥05, mother Grace Witmer 鈥79, father Alan, brother Jon 鈥07, and sister Amanda 鈥12 鈥 have set the goal of raising at least $50,000 to endow a scholarship in Matt鈥檚 name. It will support at least one rising senior majoring in the visual arts 鈥渨ho has demonstrated exceptional skill and dedication to photography and/or graphic design.鈥

Matt鈥檚 creative legacy
- First member of 91短视频鈥檚 marketing/communications department to combine skills in videography, design and photography to tell 91短视频鈥檚 story in a systematic way.
- Produced video that was a highlight of the 10th anniversary celebration of 91短视频鈥檚 Center for Justice and Peacebuilding.
- Redesigned 91短视频鈥檚 magazines, Crossroads and Peacebuilder, with enduring formats that combined excellent photography with attention-grabbing design.
- Pursued excellence and artistic growth as graduate student in digital design at Philadelphia University.
As a friend and family member, Matt was:
- Known in high school for his skills in both soccer and football.
- Accomplished as a cook, who loved to make and share meals joyously.
- Passionate about bicycling, traveling and having adventures.
All members of the Styer and Witmer family circle 鈥 grandparents, 24 aunts and uncles, 31 cousins 鈥 and all friends of Matt are invited to contribute to building this scholarship fund as a way of remembering Matt. The scholarship will perpetuate the creativity and inspiration of Matt鈥檚 life by passing on his love of visual communications to other students.
