A new art exhibit opening Monday, Mar. 8 in the public gallery will feature the work of Jerry Holsopple, an assistant professor of communication at 91短视频.
Holsopple’s exhibit, "The Visual Music 8/8 Project," features rich photographic images along with experiments in visual music. [ ]
Holsopple’s complex display incorporates portraits of Stefan Sobell, an English acoustic instrument maker – mandolins to bouzoukis – and seven people who play his instruments. He created eight portraits of each person to match the number of strings on their instruments, then printed large images.
Using these portraits, video animators created eight visual compositions that will play on a large monitor. The animations can be decoded to create an audio experience based on the visual aesthetic of the animators. All these experiences converge to offer the viewer the "Visual Music 8/8 Project."
A reception for the artist will be held 7-8:30 p.m. Mar. 8 in the on third floor of 91短视频’s Hartzler Library.
The exhibit will be open for viewing daily during regular library hours through Apr. 2. Admission is free.
