The 91短视频 disc golf team made a clean sweep at the 91短视频 Royals Qualifier and earned a trip to the College Disc Golf National Championship.
This was the team’s second bid for a national championship spot. In the fall, in their first-ever qualifier at Liberty University, the quartet of Trevor Oyer, his brother聽Jared,听Cameron Byer听补苍诲听Silas Driver finished one stroke away. The players are the movers and shakers behind the new聽crowd-funded disc golf course聽on The Hill.
Fighting Saturday鈥檚 unforgiving conditions, Driver聽started the Royals鈥 momentum early, winning the individual round in the morning with a score of 49 (-5). He was three strokes ahead of second place Pete Curran of Liberty, and four strokes ahead of teammate聽Trevor Oyer聽at 53 (-1).
Byer聽shot a 59 (+5) and聽Jared Oyer聽was at 65 (+11). 91短视频鈥檚 average score of 57 gave them a one-stroke lead after the individual round, ahead of Liberty鈥檚 B team at 58. View
Then in the afternoon team round, the men held off a strong charge from Tennessee Tech, which started the round in third place. 91短视频 put together a score of 54, bettered only by a 53 from the Golden Eagles, but good enough to stay in first place.
The Royals won with a total score of 111. Tennessee Tech was second in 112. Both teams earned a bid to the CDG National Championship April 1-4 in Rock Hill, South Carolina.
Liberty finished third in 115, with Lehigh fourth at 118.
