Trailing 23-20 late in set two, the Royals surged to lock up the score at 24-24.聽 They had the score tied two more times before Catholic got back-to-back kills to steal a 28-26 win.聽 91短视频 then used a huge 9-1 run in set three to lock things up at 15-15, but the Cardinals scored the final five points to win 25-19.

聽(Harrisonburg, Va./Turner Ashby) was the lone Royal with double figures in kills, racking up 14 in the three sets.聽 She also had 11 digs.聽聽聽(San Antonio, Tex./Brandeis) led all players with 18 digs.

聽(Staunton, Va./Robert E. Lee) had 16 set assists, while聽(Cheverly, Md./Elizabeth Seton) put up 14 with a match high four service aces.

The match with Salem featured big runs until the Royals finally grabbed momentum.聽 But the swings were evident in set one, when the teams traded massive runs early only to be tied at 8-8.聽 The Spirits etched out to a three-point lead all the way to game point at 24-21.聽 But Eastern Mennonite scored five unanswered, including the final two on service aces, to surge to a 26-24 win.

Set two was just as wild, only this time Salem pushed to the finish with a 6-2 run to win 25-20.聽 The Royals took all the momentum early in set three, however, riding a 16-2 explosion to a 25-14 decision.聽 They closed the day on another 16-2 tear to again win 25-14.

The women featured a very balanced attack in the win, led by Ritchie’s 10 knockdowns.聽聽聽(Richmond, Va./Maggie L. Walker) and聽聽(Kenbridge, Va./Kenston Forest) each had seven kills and three others added five or more.聽聽聽(Staunton, Va./Robert E. Lee) and聽聽(Montross, Va./Washington & Lee )each had five blocks.

Miller was her usual stellar self with 21 digs.聽 Freshman聽聽(Harrisonburg, Va./Harrisonburg) was good for 17 digs and six service aces in her first collegiate match.

All-Tournament Team
Senior outside hitter聽Sara Ritchie聽was named to the 91短视频 Invitational All-Tournament Team at the conclusion of play.聽 She pounded out 4.50 kills per set at the invite and added 3.36 digs along with a total of five aces.聽 Ritchie had a high of 21 kills and 14 digs in the four-set win over Goucher on Friday, and also notched a double double in each match.

Game one was close until 91短视频 broke loose and closed on a 17-9 run to win 25-19. Eastern Mennonite surged to a 14-2 lead in game two and never slowed down, winning 25-12. The Chargers regrouped by the third game and kept the score close. But the Royals closed strong again, using an 8-2 run to win 25-18.

Just miles from her hometown, senior (Parkesburg, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) played an incredible game. She had match highs with her 12 kills, .522 attack percentage and 18 digs. Kennel also had a service ace, solo block and block assist. Middle hitter (Waynesboro, Va./Stuarts Draft) was almost as efficient, knocking down eight kills on just 17 attempts and adding a couple of blocks.

(Willow Street, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite), also playing near her hometown, added nine kills.聽 Setter (Cheverly, Md./Elizabeth Seton) notched a double double with 31 assists and 11 digs to go with three aces.

After playing four matches in five days, the Royals get the week off before another road trip next weekend. They play at North Carolina Wesleyan on Friday, followed by a tri-match hosted by Guilford on Saturday.

The women had a great start to the day, closing on a 12-4 run to take game one by a score of 25-19. Howard Payne skipped ahead with quick wins of 25-17 and 25-11, putting 91短视频 against the wall.

The Yellow Jackets held a slight lead for much of game four before a 3-0 burst put Eastern Mennonite up 24-23.聽 Each team missed a chance to end it before a pair of HPU errors allowed the Royals to force game five, 28-26.

A 5-0 run looked to have 91短视频 in the driver’s seat in the decider, leading 9-6. But the momentum quickly turned to the Yellow Jackets, as they scored six straight to go ahead 14-9. The Royals managed two points before HPU closed it out, 15-11.

Freshman (Port Republic, Va./Eastern Mennonite) led all players with 17 kills and added 11 digs and four blocks. Libero (San Antonio, Tex./Brandeis) was just as key with a whopping 31 digs. (Parkesburg, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) was good for 11 kills and four blocks. Miller and Kennel each had a pair of service aces.

After a short 30-minute break, the Royals returned to the floor to take on Salem, which went to the NCAA Tournament last fall. The Spirits came out on all cylinders and grabbed a 25-17 win in game one.

The women fell behind again in game two, before a 7-0 run changed the momentum of the day. Eastern Mennonite closed on a 21-11 run to win game two, 25-19. An 11-2 surge gave the Royals game three by the same score. The Spirits were done by the fourth game, which 91短视频 took 25-16.

(Willow Street, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) got her first extended playing time of the weekend and responded with a match high 13 kills. Kennel and (Waynesboro, Va./Stuarts Draft) each added 10 kills and four block assists.

(Cheverly, Md./Elizabeth Seton) had 28 set assists and three service aces.聽 ophomore (Elkhart, Ind./Bethany Christian) was one of four Royals with double digit digs, as she scooped up 22 Spirit spikes.

As a team, 91短视频 had season bests in hitting percentage, digs and total blocks.

Sophomore Katie Miller was named to the All-91短视频 Invitational Team for her efforts over the two day event. 91短视频’s libero averaged 4.81 digs per set, including 31 against Howard Payne, and added a team high seven service aces.

The Royals, now 2-2, stay at home for their next match, taking on Mary Baldwin Thursday in Yoder Arena.
