The University of Tennessee Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of James Fellenbaum, will perform a concert titled “A World of Orchestral Jazz” 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 15, in Lehman Auditorium. The concert is open to the public free of charge.

The concert is part of the symphony’s 2007-08 season called “A World Tour of Music,” with each concert featuring a different nationality or musical style. The program at 91短视频 will feature jazz-inspired works by Shostakovich and Gershwin as well as standard jazz tunes infused with orchestra.

Selections by Schubert and Mahler, featuring mezzo-soprano Lorraine DiSimone from previous World Tour of Music concerts, will be included in the tour performance.

Two renown artists – Marvin Stamm, trumpet, and Bill Mays, piano – will be featured on the program along with UT jazz faculty members Keith Brown, drums, and Rusty Holloway, bass. In addition, UT Professor Cathy Leach, trumpet, will join Marvin Stamm in the world premiere of Greg McLean’s double trumpet concerto, “The Twain Have Met,” a mixture of jazz and classical style.
