She was on the five-member First Team as a junior before being named the top scholar in all of Division III women’s basketball this year.

A member of the 91短视频 , Rheinheimer holds a 3.96 GPA in the university鈥檚 well-respected , along with a minor in .

This is the first time an 91短视频 athlete has been named the Academic All-American of the Year, but the 11th time an 91短视频 student-athlete has been named to an Academic All-America Team, including last year when both Rheinheimer and women’s cross country/track & field runner聽聽(Bluffton, Ohio/Bluffton) earned spots.

Rheinheimer has once again been named among 10 finalists for the prestigious Jostens Trophy.聽One award is given to each a women’s and men’s NCAA Division III basketball player who excels on the floor, in the classroom and in the community.

Rheinheimer was the second-ever junior to win the trophy last year.

The senior was already , becoming the first woman in conference history to win both awards twice. She was also named South Region Player of the Year by D3hoops.com, the official publication of NCAA D-III athletics.

A versatile 5-10 forward, Rheinheimer averaged 19.5 points and 6.8 rebounds per game this year.聽 She was among ODAC shooting percentage leaders in all three categories: field goals, three point field goals and free throws.聽 She scored a season high 35 points in a win over rival Bridgewater on Jan. 5.

Rheinheimer finishes her career as the No. 3 scorer in Eastern Mennonite history, finishing with 1,567 points.聽 She is also No. 11 all-time in rebounding, with 646 rebounds, and finished just outside of the top 15 in career assists and steals.

She helped the Royals to some of the best seasons in program history, including a run of three straight NCAA National Tournament appearances.

She is a member of the 91短视频 Student Nurses Association. In the local community, she works with the Gemeinschaft Home, a post-incarceration transition home.聽 She studied in Honduras in the summer of 2013 as part of Eastern Mennonite’s cross cultural program, and has been a volunteer with various organizations in Honduras, Kentucky, New York and her home state of Pennsylvania.

The conference awards were announced Wednesday, Feb. 24 at a banquet in Salem, preceding the start of the ODAC Tournament quarterfinals Thursday.

After winning both awards last year in her first season as a full-time starter, Rheinheimer becomes the first woman in ODAC history to be named both the Player of the Year and Scholar-Athlete twice.聽 Randolph-Macon’s Megan Silva accomplished the feat once in 2005.

Rheinheimer, a preseason First Team All-American by multiple publications, is currently averaging 19.8 points and 6.7 rebounds per game.聽 A versatile offensive threat, the 5-10 forward is eighth in the ODAC with a 48.0% shooting clip, including 35.0% from three point range, which is seventh.聽 She is also third in free throw percentage at 82.7%, connecting on 91-of-110 attempts.

Rheinheimer has scored in double figures in 23-of-25 games, with a season high of 35 in double overtime win over rival Bridgewater on Jan. 5.

An Academic All-American, Rheinheimer boasts a 3.95 grade point average as a nursing major with a minor in history.聽 The perennial 91短视频 Dean’s List honoree is a finalist for the WBCA Good Works Team and will again be in the running for the Jostens Trophy, which honored Rheinheimer as the top NCAA Division III women’s basketball student-athlete in the country last season.聽 A member of the 91短视频 Student Nurses Association, she has previously studied abroad in Honduras.

The university launched a , and broke records in enrollment and number of to the annual Old Dominion Athletic Conference All-Academic Team.

By far the most viewed story of the year, with 15,000 reads and nearly 600 Facebook likes, was President Swartzendruber鈥檚 December reflections on attacks in San Bernardino, Paris, South Carolina, and elsewhere. 鈥淥ur campus community continues to prayerfully discern what the peace position means to us in a world beset by violence,鈥 Swartzendruber said. He called everyone to practice Jesus鈥 command to love one鈥檚 enemies and to engage in dialogue with those who come from different backgrounds, while pledging that 91短视频 would work locally and regionally at Muslim-Christian dialogue and continue to train students and others with world-changing tools and principles.

2. Amish teacher, 98, returns to alma mater

Amos Yoder 鈥54 waited a long time for this trip. Yoder, who is Amish and lives in Minnesota, spent his career teaching and farming in the Midwest and Great Plains and never returned to Virginia鈥攗ntil daughter Rebecca Barbo brought him to campus last year. A group of former classmates and 91短视频 alumni relations representatives greeted Yoder on his visit. Yoder said the campus looked very different, but he treasured the opportunity to return to a place so important to him, calling his years at then-Eastern Mennonite College 鈥渙ne of the high points of my life.鈥

3. Jackson and Katie Maust with the Harrisonburg Rescue Squad

Titled “Married alumni couple spends spare time saving lives,” the story of Jackson and Katie (Lehman) Maust was one of the top five most-read of the year. They work as a physical therapist and emergency room nurse, respectively, but spend much time away from work among the ranks of the 160 HRS volunteers (including many other 91短视频 alumni). Katie says it鈥檚 a calling. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a way that we serve God,鈥 she says.

Loren Swartzendruber began the end of an era in April when he announced he would retire at the end of the 2015-2016 academic year. 91短视频鈥檚 eighth president, Swartzendruber will have served for 13 years in the role and 33 years total in Mennonite higher education. A national search for 91短视频鈥檚 next president began in June.

5. The Yutzy family and their dairy’s new solar installation

Sustainability on campus and off are always popular reads. The Yutzy family, which includes several 91短视频 alumni, was featured by the Harrisonburg Daily News-Record for innovations at their Windcrest Holsteins farm in Timberville, Va. This past year the farm鈥檚 barn and milking parlor were covered with nearly 1,800 solar panels. The $1.3 million system, made possible via a grant, tax credits, and depreciation allowances, is expected to pay for itself within five years and eliminate the farm鈥檚 power bill. It is Virginia鈥檚 largest privately owned solar installation.

6. Articles honoring faculty of note and moments of historic importance

Wert graduated with a degree in liberal arts and now teaches special education in Texas when he’s not on the road.

Restorative justice articles always draw excellent reader numbers, but this article about the new Harrisonburg initiative garnered a record number of hits and Facebook shares. Preseason polling ranked the and the in the (ODAC).

The men play their first conference game Nov. 29 at Randolph and the women host Lynchburg Nov. 24.

A for men’s only, women’s only or a combo of all men’s and women’s home games are offered. 91短视频鈥檚 home games routinely host large crowds, with an average of 393 fans for the women鈥檚 games, a statistic that leading the ODAC and puts 91短视频 39th in the nation among D-III teams. The men averaged 757 for their games, third in the ODAC and 28th out of 417 D-III team s in the nation.

Fans will definitely want to cheer the women on at home:聽 the Royals (88-22 over the past four years) also take a 30-game home winning streak into this season, with a 54-49 setback against Elizabethtown on Jan. 7, 2013, standing as their last loss in Yoder Arena.

Rheinheimer back for senior campaign

Despite the loss of five seniors, the ODAC’s coaches aren’t expecting much of a fall off for 91短视频’s women.

Eastern Mennonite, riding a string of three straight NCAA Tournament appearances, received three first-place votes and totaled 106 points in the voting.聽 Lynchburg College earned six first-place votes and 114 total points to claim the top spot.

The Royals had a nice postseason run in 2014-15, earning a thrilling win over LaRoche in the NCAA First Round before falling to eventual national champion Thomas More. Coach claimed his third straight and fourth overall ODAC Coach of the Year award

The Royals return three starters, including the ODAC Player of the Year and All-America forward (Manheim, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite).聽 A 5-10 senior, Rheinheimer scored 20.0 points with 7.8 rebounds per game last year. She was named ODAC Player of the Year and was a D3hoops.com All-America Fourth Team honoree. She was recently named to the D3hoops.com Preseason All-America First Team.

The women also return senior point guard (Conestoga, Pa./Penn Manor) (2.3ppg, 4.1rpg, 2.2apg) and sophomore guard/forward (Covington, Va./Covington) (6.3ppg, 2.0rpg).

Jones twins lead young squad

As could be expected, the ODAC coaches see that 91短视频’s basketball men have some rebuilding to do.聽 A year after finishing fourth in the standings, the Runnin Royals were tabbed to finish eighth in the nation’s toughest conference.

“Our goal is to improve every game no matter what happens,” said coach , the 2010 ODAC Coach of the Year.聽 “Our kids are mature enough to understand that we’re in a really, really tough league, but if we can keep everyone together, we can be one of the best teams in the league again, and probably sooner rather than later.”

Eastern Mennonite returns just six men from last year’s roster, all sophomores.聽 Including All-ODAC performers David Falk and Marcel Crump, the men lost six seniors from a 17-10 squad.聽 Five of them started during the postseason run into the ODAC Semifinals.

(Charles Town, W.V./Washington) started 14 games as a freshman in 2014-15, and was fifth on the team with a 7.6 scoring average.聽 He shot 36.2% from three-point range and scored in double figures in ten games.聽 His twin brother, (Charles Town, W.V./Washington), expects to elevate after being the backup point guard last year.聽 (Warrenton, Va./Kettle Run) shot a team-best 40.0% from outside and averaged 3.8 points per game.

The Runnin鈥 Royals open the new year Saturday, Nov. 14, hosting Virginia University of Lynchburg 30 minutes following the completion of the women鈥檚 game, or approximately 6:30 p.m.聽 The men play just two games in Yoder Arena over the first semester.聽 They also play at D-I James Madison University on Tuesday, Nov. 24.

(Bluffton, Ohio/Bluffton), Jr., Women’s Cross Country/Track & Field, Biology, 3.87 GPA.聽 Chappell-Dick, also a Capitol One Academic All-American, reaped the benefits of her first fully healthy season, heading to the national meet in both the indoor and outdoor track seasons.聽 The junior finished second at nationals in the indoor mile, and then added a bronze medal in the outdoor 1500m.聽 She claimed All-America status both times, becoming the first 91短视频 track and field athlete to do so since 2007.听 Chappell-Dick was the ODAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for cross country, indoor track and outdoor track, and earned six All-ODAC First Team honors this year in the three sports. The South/Southeast Region鈥檚 coaches also voted her Region Athlete of the Year twice.

(Perkasie, Pa./Christopher Dock), So., Men’s Cross Country/Track & Field, Biology/Pre-Med, 3.98 GPA.聽 Denlinger was a point-scorer for the men in the middle distances, taking third place at the ODAC Championships in both the indoor and outdoor 800m.聽 He earned the men鈥檚 ODAC Scholar-Athlete title for the indoor track season and was also Capitol One Academic All-District.

(Sterling, Ill./Sterling), Sr., Men鈥檚 Cross Country, Congregational Ministry/Biblical Studies, 3.94 GPA.聽 Landis capped his collegiate career with a trip to the NCAA National Championships in cross country.聽 He earned All-ODAC and All-Region honors along the way and was also voted the ODAC Scholar-Athlete of the Year for cross country, to go with a spot on the Academic All-District Team.聽 Landis missed his final track season by studying in the Middle East during the spring semester.

(New Paris, Ind./Bethany Christian), Sr., Women鈥檚 Volleyball – Defensive Specialist, History, 3.98 GPA.聽 Lehman returned to the court this year after missing her junior campaign to study in Spain and Morocco.聽 She stepped into a role as a defensive specialist and racked up 178 digs, averaging 1.98 per set.聽 Lehman also had 17 service aces.

(Manheim, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite), Jr., Women鈥檚 Basketball – Forward, Nursing, 3.95 GPA.聽 Rheinheimer exploded in her first season as a full-time starter, averaging 20.0 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists, 1.5 steals and 0.9 blocks per game.聽 She was named the ODAC Player of the Year and Virginia State Player of the Year.聽 The versatile forward also landed on the All-South Region First Team and All-America Fourth Team.聽 Rheinheimer was the ODAC Scholar-Athlete for women鈥檚 basketball and became the second junior ever to win the Jostens Trophy, an award based on excellence on the court, in the classroom and in the community.

(Harrisonburg, Va./Eastern Mennonite), Sr., Men’s Soccer – Keeper, Accounting/Economics, 3.95 GPA.聽 Yoder joins Landis as a two-time Academic All-State honoree after completing one of his best statistical seasons on the pitch.聽 A three-year starter in goal, Yoder had a career best .795 save percentage, allowing 1.37 goals per game.聽 He was also the ODAC Scholar-Athlete for men鈥檚 soccer, the Royals grabbed a school-record seven such awards from the conference in 2014-15.

To earn VaSID Academic All-State honors, a student-athlete must have achieved at least a 3.25 grade point average and be at least a sophomore.聽 Each school in the state is allowed six nominees.

VaSID is comprised of sports information or athletics communications professionals from intercollegiate institutions throughout the Commonwealth of Virginia. Membership is open to any individual affiliated with one of the state’s institutions at the NCAA Division I, Division II, Division III, NAIA, USCAA and community college levels, provided that individual’s area of responsibility lies within the realm of sports information.

She is just one of five women’s basketball players from the entire country named to the First Team. Earlier this winter, the Royals’ 5-10 forward was named Academic All-District in District 5, which includes much of the southeastern states in the U.S.

Rheinheimer studied in Honduras in the summer of 2013 as part of 91短视频’s . She is on the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC) All-Academic Team and the Royals All-Academic Team, as well as Eastern Mennonite’s dean’s list.

Just as talented on the basketball court as she is in the classroom, Rheinheimer enters this week’s ODAC Tournament averaging a league-best 19.6 points along with 7.4 rebounds, 10th in the ODAC. Rheinheimer also tops the conference in field goals (183) and is second in three point percentage (42.2%), sixth in field goal percentage (51.0%), seventh in blocks (24) and 12th in steals (40).

An All-ODAC Second Team selection last spring as a part-time starter, Rheinheimer has taken off this year. She was named EMU WBB v Washington & Lee-214S(3)the USBWA National Player of the Week after scoring 29 points with 12 rebounds against Christopher Newport on Dec. 30 followed by 41 and 10 against Washington on Jan. 3. Rheinheimer has also earned ODAC Player of the Week and D3hoops.com National Team of the Week honors twice each this year.

Eastern Mennonite’s women’s basketball team, coached by in his 10th season at 91短视频, is the top seed in the ODAC Tournament this week, carrying a record of 21-3 overall and 15-1 in the ODAC. The women are also riding a 10-game winning streak and they look for their third consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament.

Royals top Randolph 78-63 as Sykes scores 1000th point /now/news/2015/royals-top-randolph-78-63-as-sykes-scores-1000th-point/ Mon, 09 Feb 2015 15:37:13 +0000 http://emu.edu/now/news/?p=23140 It was a day full of milestones as the 91短视频 basketball women controlled the second half in a 78-63 win over Randolph College Saturday afternoon in Harrisonburg.聽 The Royals won their 28th straight game at home as they improved to 11-1 in the ODAC and clinched a top four seed in the ODAC Tournament, which starts the last week of February.

With an offensive putback at the 12:41 mark in the second half, senior聽聽(Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) scored her 1000th point, becoming just the 12th 91短视频 woman to break the barrier.聽 High school teammate聽聽(Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) also tied her career high with 10 assists in the win.

Eastern Mennonite’s women haven’t lost a basketball game in Yoder Arena since Jan. 7, 2013, in a 54-49 loss to Elizabethtown.

Randolph proved to be a handful in the first half, as the visitors connected on their first six field goal attempts and traded leads early.聽 The Royals eventually worked out to a seven point lead at 32-25, but the WildCats had a chance to grab the lead at halftime when they got the ball after an 91短视频 turnover with the shot clock turned off.

Brown picked out a key steal with 10 seconds left before she eventually assisted聽聽(Manheim, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) on a buzzer-beater on an inbounds play, giving the Royals a slight 39-36 cushion at the break.聽 Despite entering the game with a 38% shooting clip, Randolph shot a lights out 56% in the first 20 minutes, including 5-for-6 from long range, to put a scare into 91短视频.

The Royals took off in the second.聽 Holding a 44-40 lead with 17 minutes to play, the women clamped on the defense which got their transition game going.聽 91短视频 scored 13 unanswered points to blow open a 57-40 edge, capped by a Sykes layup with 14:16 left.

A minute and a half later Sykes got her big bucket to crack 1000 points and the women cruised.聽 Randolph would get no closer than 11 points the rest of the way to the 78-63 final score.

Eastern Mennonite stifled their guests in the second half to just 30% shooting.聽 For the game, the Royals finished with a 48% to 41% shooting advantage.聽 The women also hit on 10-of-21 attempts from three point range.

Rheinheimer scored a game high 27 points as she was 5-for-6 from outside.聽 She also had six rebounds.聽 Sykes had yet another double double with 18 points, 11 rebounds and five steals.聽 She has scored 1004 points in her career.

聽(Covington, Va./Covington) was good for 12 points and six boards.聽 Brown had three steals to go with her 10 assists.

Taylor Samuels hit four triples to lead Randolph with 18 points.聽 Jensen Hoover finished with 10 points and nine rebounds.

Eastern Mennonite takes a 17-3 record into next Wednesday’s ODAC date at Shenandoah University.聽 Start time in Winchester is at 6:00pm.

The 91短视频 women’s basketball team closed regular season play聽out in February 2015 by solidifying聽their聽first place ranking in the ODAC.聽The team’s overall record is 21-3 (15-1 conference) as of February 26, 2015.

That powerhouse record includes a home winning streak of 30聽games: their last loss in Yoder Arena occurred over two seasons聽ago in January 2013.

In early January, the Lady Royals’ versatile forward聽聽earned her second spot on the Team of the Week and by the U.S. Basketball Writers Association (USBWA). This is the first season that the USBWA is recognizing national players of the week from Division III.

In February Rheinhemer was named one of five in nation to the聽Capital One Academic All-America First Team. A member of the 91短视频聽, Rheinheimer holds a 3.96 GPA in the university鈥檚 well-respected聽, along with a minor in聽.

The Runnin Royals have gathered a number of career records and personal honors聽even after battling through聽a聽tough non-conference聽and ODAC schedule.

The team has a record of 16-9聽overall (9-7 conference) as of February 26, 2015.

The men聽clinched the No. 4 seed with an .

Some of the honors accrued this season were for senior聽, who聽was named聽ODAC Player of the Week after collecting double doubles during dramatic wins聽in mid-January. 聽

As of Feb. 22 the 6-6 center is ranked third in the nation for rebounds per game.聽Falk聽is , having logged 192聽throughout the regular season.聽He聽is currently ranked . (More info:聽)

, was named Royal Athlete of the Week on January 22 after he went multiple games hitting聽100 percent of his attempts聽from the free throw line.

Runnin Royals鈥 starting point guard聽聽earned the聽Royal Athlete of the Week honor when he logged career bests of 18 points and nine assists.

鈥淚 like setting my teammates up to score,鈥 said Williams, a senior from Capitol Heights, Md. 聽鈥淲hen I give an assist I feel like I scored the bucket myself.鈥

The Royals improve to 10-2 with the win, including 4-0 in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference, as they remain the only unbeaten team in the conference.

The two teams went back and forth with each other for most of the first, with Hollins still holding a 24-22 lead with 4:30 to go in the frame. Eastern Mennonite then owned the final minutes of the half, forcing four turnovers during the span and closing on a 14-2 tear. With a 36-26 lead at the break, the Royals were ready to roll in the second.

91短视频 scored the first seven points after halftime to build up a 43-26 cushion and they never looked back. The closest they let Hollins the rest of the way was 14 points as the Royals out-scored their hosts 48-31 over the final 20 minutes.

Although shooting percentages were fairly close, Eastern Mennonite won the game on the glass and with defense. The women had 20 offensive rebounds and a 48-37 domination of the boards. They also picked out 13 steals and forced 22 Hollins turnovers for a +11 turnover margin.

聽(Manheim, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) led the charge with 23 points, seven rebounds, three steals, two blocks and two assists.聽聽(Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) racked up her fifth double double of the year with 14 points, 14 rebounds and three steals.

聽(Goshen, Ind./Bethany Christian) hit four triples and finished with 12 points.聽(Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) had eight points, five assists and three steals.聽聽(Conestoga, Pa./Penn Manor) did all the little things and came up with nine rebounds, five assists and four steals.

Jewellanna Parfitt and Britney Campbell each scored 17 for Hollins.

The Royals come back home to host Washington and Lee Tuesday night at 7 p.m. in Yoder Arena. The surprising Generals are also 10-2 overall with a 3-1 ODAC record.

Igniting an otherwise sluggish offense, she put on a display with a new career high of 41 points as the Royals improve to 8-2 with the non-conference win.

Her previous high had been 29 points, which she set in Tuesday’s win at Christopher Newport. 聽The program record for points in a game is 58, set by recent Hall of Honor inductee聽聽in 2001. Rheinheimer also picked up her fourth double double of the season with 10 rebounds.

The Shorewomen (4-7) caused fits for 91短视频’s offense when the two teams met last year in Chestertown, Maryland. They held the Royals to 34 percent shooting in that game, although Eastern Mennonite still snuck out with a 58-55 win. It looked like the same story was unfolding Saturday afternoon in Harrisonburg as the teams were locked in a low-scoring first half.

But defense and Rheinheimer changed the tide in the final minute of the frame. The Royals forced two turnovers and scored the final six to push the lead to 33-25, which was the biggest of the game at that point. Rheinheimer was front and center, hitting a jumper with 26 seconds left before stealing the ball on the defensive end, dribbling across half court and drilling a buzzer-beating three pointer from 40 feet.

The momentum carried into the second as Rheinheimer put on a show. The junior hit 10 of her 11 shots in the final half, including a trio of threes, and she dumped in 26 of 91短视频’s 39 points. Rheinheimer was so dominant that her teammates didn’t score consecutive points until she left the game in the final minutes.

The women had a modest 41-to-30 percent聽advantage in shooting, but picked out a huge edge with 12 steals. Washington had 19 turnovers compared to just eight for 91短视频.

Along with her double double, Rheinheimer tied for the team high with three steals and added two blocked shots.聽聽(Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) scored 11 in the first half and finished with 14 points, seven boards and three steals.聽聽(Conestoga, Pa./Penn Manor) added six rebounds, four assists and three steals.聽聽(Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) also had four assists.

Emily Hubley led the Shorewomen with 20 points, including 16 of the team’s 22 in the second half. Kelly Sugalski had nine rebounds and six points.

After extending their home winning streak to 23 games, the Royals hit the road for two games next week. First up is a Wednesday date at Old Dominion Athletic Conference聽rival Guilford College. The Royals improve to 6-1 as they get a few days off for final exams. 聽The women have now won 22 straight at home. Ferrum, an injury-hampered team which was picked to finish second in the USA South, slips to 2-3.

Eastern Mennonite had a 4-0 lead just 20 seconds into the game, as聽聽(Covington, Va./Covington) buried a pair of long jumpers.聽聽(Manheim, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) then scored the next eight, including a pair of three pointers, as the women led 12-0. Ferrum got their first bucket at the 16:19 mark, but the Royals scored the next 14 points, including four more triples, to blow open a 26-2 cushion just 8:33 in.

The Panthers rebounded with a 13-2 run to get within 28-15. 91短视频 stayed hot from outside, however, and never let their visitors back to within single digits.

The Royals hit 10-of-13 three pointers in the first half and led 46-31 at the break.聽 They finished 12-of-27 for the game, but still out-shot Ferrum 49 percent to 44 percent. 91短视频 also had a 36-30 edge in rebounding.

Rheinheimer was unstoppable and led the charge with 23 points, seven rebounds, five assists and three steals.聽聽(Goshen, Ind./Bethany Christian) drained 6-of-9 three pointers and finished with 18 points and two blocks.聽聽(Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) came in with 10 points and Moore charted nine.

聽(Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) had the eye for the open shooter and racked up 10 assists, easily breaking her career best for a game. She now has 17 assists over 91短视频’s last two outings, as the senior had seven handouts in Tuesday’s 81-76 win at Randolph-Macon.

Zarkia Mattox led Ferrum with 18 points, seven rebounds and five assists off the bench. Jacole Hairston scored 14 while Kemani Crawford added 12 points and seven boards.

In the Old Dominion Athletic Conference (ODAC)聽opener for both teams, 91短视频 moved to 4-1 on the season and 1-0 in the ODAC while Emory & Henry dropped to 2-4 on the season and 0-1 in the ODAC.

The Royals shot 55% from the 3-point line and were led from downtown by聽聽(Freeman, Va. / Brunswick)补苍诲听聽(Covington, Va. / Covington), who each made four treys.聽聽(Dumfries, Va. / Forest Park) was a perfect 3-3 from beyond the arc, helping the Royals shoot 53.8% on all field goals in the game.

聽(Manheim, Pa. / Lancaster Mennonite) tallied her second double-double of the season, scoring ten points and ten rebounds. Defensively, she also blocked two shots in the game.

The Wasp’s Karina Farr led all scorers with 18 points and also added ten rebounds. Emory & Henry shot close to 35 percent from the field.

The two teams were tied at 13 with 12:32 to go in the first half. But the Royals would go on a 21-7 run over the next eight minutes to go up 34-20 with four minutes to go in the half. The Royals led 42-26 at halftime and would never allow the Wasps within 14 for the rest of the game.

The Royals now head to Randolph-Macon for a 7 p.m. tilt on Tuesday, December 2.

Four Royals scored in double figures as Eastern Mennonite improved to 15-4 overall and 9-1 in the conference.

Coupled with Lynchburg’s loss at Randolph-Macon, 91短视频’s women now hold a one-lead over the Hornets with six conference games remaining. The Royals host LC to close the regular season on Feb. 22.

The Royals traded leads with Emory & Henry for the first few minutes until a quick 7-0 run gave the women an 18-12 advantage. They wouldn’t trail again. Three-point shooting helped 91短视频 open up a 13-point lead during the half. They led 35-25 at the break.

The Wasps chipped to within four points early in the second. Eastern Mennonite settled down and put the lead back around 10 points, and then iced the win by holding EHC scoreless for the final 3:59 of game.

The women forced their hosts into 18 turnovers while only committing 11 themselves. The Royals also out-shot EHC 44 percent-to-38 percent and hit six triples.

Four 91短视频 players scored in double figures headed by (Conestoga, Pa./Penn Manor). The senior had 17 points, six rebounds and four assists. (Manheim, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) had her best game as she returns to form from an early-season sprained ankle, going for 12 points, seven rebounds and three assists.

(Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) had 14 points and a game high three steals. (Manheim, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) added 10 counters.

Kristie Langley was the lone Wasp in double figures as she scored 11.

The Royals play two on the road in the coming week, starting at Washington and Lee on Tuesday. Game time in Lexington is 7 p.m.

The non-stop first half was played to 91短视频’s tempo and they led most of the way.聽 However, the Eagles kept pace by hitting 7-of-14 three pointers.聽 The Royals used nine offensive rebounds in the frame to lead 41-37 at halftime.

The women had to lead up to as many as seven early in the second before BC came storming back.聽 Holly Morgan’s fifth triple of the game tied the score at 58-58 with 10:41 to go.聽 (Manheim, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) answered with a long ball to put 91短视频 back up by three, but the Eagles kept charging and finally took a 64-63 lead with 6:30 left.

The Royals answered quickly with back-to-back buckets, triggering an 8-0 run to re-take the lead at 71-64 and forcing a BC timeout with 4:53 to play.聽 Another free throw and the women had the lead up to eight points at 72-64.

The defense held the Eagles scoreless for a key stretch of 3:51 to get some breathing room.聽 BC then scraped back within five points with two minutes to play before the home team was forced to foul.

Eastern Mennonite made eight straight free throws to balloon the lead to the biggest of the night at 83-71.聽 BC got a late bucket to provide the final 10-point margin.

The Royals out-shot their hosts 48% to 43%, and dominated the boards, 43-30.聽 The women also grabbed 13 offensive rebounds.聽 The free throw line was also a difference-maker, where 91短视频 went 19-26, compared to just 8-9 for the Eagles.

(Conestoga, Pa./Penn Manor) proved her All-ODAC status by stepping up her play in the rivalry game.聽 She had game highs of 23 points, eight rebounds and three steals.聽 The power forward also dished out four assists.聽 (Manheim, Pa./Lancaster Mennonite) chipped in 13 points and seven rebounds.聽 Steph Rheinheimer canned three triples and finished with 11.

(Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) added 10 points.聽 (Bristow, Va./Brentsville District) had a game high five assists and (Dumfries, Va./Forest Park) had three steals.

Morgan finished 6-for-12 from outside and led Bridgewater with 20 points and four assists.聽 Cassidy Burkholder added 16 counters.

The Royals have now won three in a row to improve to 12-4 overall and 6-1 in the ODAC.聽 They enter a huge two-game home stand, welcoming two of the ODAC’s other top teams into Yoder Arena.聽 That stretch starts with Guilford College this Saturday at 2:00pm.聽 The Quakers have won the last two ODAC Championships.聽 Randolph-Macon visits next Tuesday.
