Each year, it brings the participation of people of all backgrounds and ages to advocate for structural reforms inside the criminal justice system. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<aside class=\"highlight highlight-right\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsleader.com\/story\/news\/2019\/10\/09\/community-criminal-justice-days-incarceration-mental-health-addiction-cannabis-va\/3897231002\/?utm_source=newsleader-Daily%20Briefing&amp;utm_medium=email&amp;utm_campaign=daily_briefing&amp;utm_term=hero\">Read more about the institute and its founders in the Staunton <em>News Leader<\/em>.<\/a><\/aside>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/reformcjs.org\/community-criminal-justice-days\/\">Registration is now open. <\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The event will focus on the theme \u201cBreaking the Cycle.\u201d Topics include:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Transformative and restorative justice<\/li><li>Innovative programs in reentry<\/li><li>Addressing childhood trauma<\/li><li>Addictions and mental health treatment<\/li><li>Immigration detention and reform<\/li><li>Workforce training and adult basic education programs<\/li><li>Therapeutic approaches to reduce juvenile detention<\/li><li>Partnerships for housing to alleviate chronic homelessness<\/li><li>Partnerships for housing and employment<\/li><li>Candidates&#8217; forums for the Nov. 2019 area elections<\/li><li>marijuana justice: considerations for the Commonwealth.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The Institute, founded in 2012, seeks to facilitate reform and the development of \u201ccost effective, restorative and balanced solutions to address the dysfunctions of the criminal justice system,\u201d according to its website.
