Will they see it as productive or worthless?\u201d \u2014 all questions she&#8217;s pondered in an email to 91短视频 News.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cNow that I\u2019m more outside the Mennonite tradition than in, it feels important to me to remain in conversation with the community regardless, not only as a means to understand the tradition better, but as a means to understand my own story, why I make art, why I have to write things that are \u2018dark\u2019 or \u2018evil\u2019 or \u2018unpleasant,\u2019\u201d said Yoder, who will present at 91短视频\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/emu.edu\/language-and-literature\/writers-read\/\">Writers Read Author Series<\/a> on Friday, Feb. 28.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Yoder grew up in a Mennonite community in the Appalachian foothills of eastern Ohio before studying English literature as an undergraduate student at Georgetown University. She is a graduate of the Iowa Nonfiction Writing Program and holds an MFA in fiction from the University of Arizona.
