I cannot say which justice we should choose, the laws we have need to be reviewed, and take into consideration every single detail of the crime, and also place ourselves in the same predicament and heat of the moment.

When you say that God gets angry at wrongdoing, my mind adventure to say: God is love. Can Love get angry? Is in the nature of Love to get angry?

I connect this with what our Indigenous friend, SPI student from Ecuador, Jose Maria Vacacela, said; “There is no judgement when we do wrong. It is just that each deed has a consecuence.” I remember also that there is no the word “justice” in their language. So what they do is harmonize again with that “love” after or before facing the consecuences.

It may be that because God never stops being Love that we can see the obligations emanating from those consecuences. God holds that loving place that inspire us to see our no loving actions with the need to repair the consecuences that follow from it. It is good for us to get angry with our unloving actions thought, to try to ammend things. As God is us, her/his Love is what moves us in a restorative way. As angryness is not a good state, we are moved to do something.

Amen! I think this post provides a helpful summary of Biblical justice. This one sentence sums it up for me: "What justice requires is that conditions for shalom be created or restored." Even though I feel passionate about this, I keep forgetting this when working and living in a culture that tends to have such a different understanding of justice. This post makes me think about a new book by another CTP alumni, Jarem Sawatsky, The Ethic of Traditional Communities and the Spirit of Healing Justice. I think that Jarem's book provides some stories of what justice based on God's love can look like.
