Cathy Smeltzer Erb, Academic Success Center Director; Professor, Teacher Education
Welcome to the tutoring services provided by undergraduate peers and, for graduate
students, our Graduate Writing Coach, Skip Kempe.
If you are an 91¶ÌÊÓƵ student, our services are for you. Our tutors are like you. They
are taking classes, taking exams, writing papers, and doing their homework. The difference
is that they are also tutoring their peers in their area of expertise. Our tutors
provide tutoring in writing, speech, history, economics, math, psychology, chemistry,
physics, biology, business, education, accounting, Spanish, nursing, and teacher ed.
If we don’t cover what you need, please tell us, and we’ll find a tutor.

Mary Ann Zehr, 91¶ÌÊÓƵ Writing & Communication Program Director
I approach my role as both a writer and a teacher. I collaborate with faculty, the
graduate writing coach, and the undergraduate writing tutors to support students as
they both learn to write and write to learn. I also support 91¶ÌÊÓƵ's curriculum for students
to communicate through speech. My office is Library 314. Contact me through email
at
maryann.zehr@emu.edu or by phone (540) 432-4352.
